Setting the Table
In the warmer months, I like to eat outdoors as much as possible. That doesn’t mean that I sacrifice style though! I bring my pretty dishware, linens, and silverware outside whether I’m having a casual meal with my family, or feeding a crowd. Change things up with a pretty tablecloth, as you can find them at all price points. I shop for a living, so I always pick up something pretty when I see it. Why is it when you actually need something, you can never find it? That is a stylist tip for you…if you see something you love then buy it, people.
You can never go wrong with a bright tablecloth. You can accessorize it so many different ways.
Use a pretty cloth napkin to wrap up a single place setting of silverware. Then tie it with some twine or pretty string to keep it closed. If you’re like me, then you love the details. I also add a sprig of rosemary, inside the tied twine to polish off the look.
If you’re doing assigned seating, use a cool gift tag to write each guest’s name. Pull one end of the gift tag through the twine and then tie a knot to attach it.
Even if you’re having a casual get together, assigned seating is a great way to introduce people who’ve never met before. If anything, your inventive place cards will be a conversation starter!
