Spring is right around the corner. That means it’s time to get your home in order and spring-ready! Take this time to pick up a few small pieces that’ll brighten your winter decor, make things a little more playful, and prepare your home for impromptu gatherings. By the time spring rolls around, you’ll be ready to go. You may think it takes a lot of effort and cash to update your pad, but really, there are easy accents you can incorporate without wasting precious pennies or hours in your day.
Start with pillows. Throw pillows can not only fancy up your sofa, they also make great pops of color on a bench in your entryway or on your dining chairs. Curate a colorful and humorous mix of pillows to freshen things up and add an ounce of the unexpected. Give your home a more laid-back beach vibe with a locals only striped pillow, plaid heart, or a traditional spring pairing: bird and bloom. Pile the pillows on by pulling accent colors from the fun ones and buying solid-colored pillows to match!
Spring isn’t spring without fresh flowers. Whether they come from your yard or your local grocery store, they need a pretty place to live. Place your blooms in this traditional white vase paired with this modern yellow piece of pottery. Mix old with new, modern with traditional, low and high. Mixing styles will give your pieces a whole new life and will allow you to create a look nobody else will have.
Let’s throw a little trick in the mix, shall we? Mirrors reflect light, so place them across from a window in an otherwise dark room. Create more light by bouncing it off of the mirror. Take it in while you can, you’ll be glad you did when winter rolls back around. This starburst-style mirror is a great pick that seamlessly blends with sunny decor.
I don’t know about you, but around here, entertaining really picks up in the spring. With all the great weather, people want to be out and about enjoying it with friends and family. This also means constantly fixing appetizers and mixing up a cocktail or two. Update your bar with some cheerful glasses. Everyone knows a nice cold drink is better from a colored glass than a plastic cup right? Pick up a set of these colorful glasses to sip from and you’ll be ready for your next round of house guests. Don’t let those appetizers you slaved over all day be displayed on a paper plate either. Invest in some beautiful salad plates – they’re the perfect size for appetizers and mingling!
Lastly, there’s spring cleaning. Be prepared when the mood hits you to go on a little cleaning spree. These yellow canisters look great on the outside, but also hold a lot on the inside! Display them on a coffee table to quickly stow knick-knacks.
Congrats! You’re now on your way to transitioning your home from winter to spring!
