The weather is warming up which means it’s time for us all to prepare our outdoor spaces for entertaining. Living in California, I’ve hosted and attended my fair share of backyard parties as most events tend to be outdoors around here. One thing that I’ve noticed always being a necessity is having multiple cozy spaces for friends and family to sit and mingle. With a few items placed together in your yard, you’ll be set to entertain.
Give all of your decor a base by laying out a rug or two. Go with one large rug for a traditional look, or layer 2-3 for a more modern look. I love how this striped rug contrasts this natural jute rug. It makes a perfect neutral palette for a black wicker sectional with clean lines. After you have your staple pieces in neutral colors, add in some accessories with pops of color. An umbrella is a must for outdoor entertaining, especially when summer rolls around. And a trio of planters in spring hues can hold your favorite blooms. Last but not least, don’t forget to have refreshments readily available to guests. Setting them outside on a cart like this one is perfect for letting guests serve themselves and keeping you mingling rather than serving. Top your cart with a great drink dispenser and glasses and you are done. Now call your friends and host a party!
