This young family of five was ready to put their personal stamp on their family room and wanted to trade their dark red walls, traditional decor, and worn-out furniture for a fresh, sophisticated update.
As the primary “hang out space” for the mom, dad, and three elementary school aged kids, Fluff Interior Design knew this family room needed to be beautiful, comfortable AND highly functional.
Adding a maximum amount of seating was of the highest priority to the homeowner, so we decided on two full sofas and two leather chairs, perfectly placed for cheering on their favorite teams, family movies and great conversations.
The clients wanted a soft, neutral color palette, which was achieved through a calming paint color (Sherwin Williams Anew Grey) that lets the beautiful built-ins and moldings shine. We added a transitional rug with a muted pattern that anchors the furniture arrangement and allows the kids to play comfortably on the floor. Furniture and pillow fabrics with complimenting tones and patterns add interest and give the room a polished look.
Texture is one of the most important elements in a pulling off a neutral color palette. Fluff achieved a broad range of textures through the use of a rustic coffee table, the mixing of metals, antique mirrored nesting tables, and organic accessories.
The timeless and beautiful elements used in this space will serve this family well for years to come.
