Editors’ Top Picks for Mother’s Day

Moms are some of the best things on Earth, we all know that, but let’s talk specifics.  In addition to being a mom, each one is a unique woman, and that’s why it pays to find something special for her. Read on for our editors’ thoughtful choices inspired by motherly love. Shop more gifts for her here.

To symbolize how my fondness for her is always growing (wink, wink), I’m giving my mom the Dura-Trel Rectangle Vinyl Camelot Planter Box. Mom’s favorite pastime is gardening and her terrace and patio are always booming with bright blossoms in vibrant colors. This planter is made of PVC vinyl so it’s completely maintenance-free – she’ll LOVE that! It won’t fade, crack, split, or rot … ever. She’ll never need to sand, stain, or paint. This is a gift that will keep on giving.

My mother and step-father spend many of their days outside making their backyard a beautiful place to relax for family and guests, so I thought, why not get Mom a two-person swing for Mother’s Day?  They love to enjoy the tranquil Nebraska sunrises and sunsets, which can be fairly bright, so I picked the elegant and comfortable Coral Coast Bellora 2 Person Gazebo Swing.  Constructed from sturdy steel with a resin wicker seat and back, the Bellora features a weather-resistant, PU-coated polyester canopy designed to last. Not only that, it has two handy shelves perfect for holding drinks and snacks so they remain immersed in their reading material and a swing in the breeze. I can picture it now, the two of them enjoying a cup of hot tea and the morning paper in this elegant gazebo swing as birds serenade the return of spring.

If there’s anything my mom loves as much as her children, it might be chocolate! This year, I plan to surprise her with something I think she will enjoy but would probably never buy for herself, the Sephra CF18L Classic Home Fountain. Now that she’s retired, my mom finds plenty of opportunities to invite people over for craft nights, church gatherings, and fun times with cousins. With this fountain, she will be able to treat her guests and herself to a delicious party novelty, complete with a wide range of dippables, from fruit and pretzels to marshmallows and sponge cake. And if she ever tires of chocolate (never), she can also use it for classic cheese fondue! The best part? Dishwasher-safe parts make clean-up a snap.

I chose the Smart Solar Country Gardens 2-Tier Solar-On-Demand Fountain because the name of this gift alone reminds me of Mom … smart, on-demand (or perhaps just a tad demanding …), and overall super energetic! For a mom who enjoys gardening, as mine does, treat her to a little tranquility. A trickling fountain adds much serenity to any outdoor space, and this fountain’s technology allows it to store energy longer for later use. If only we all could store energy to have on demand …

The Bey-Berk International Jewelry Case is petite, pink, and oh so fabulous for its size! Never ever let Mom travel with her cherished jewelry sealed up in a cheap plastic baggie again. With this simple yet sophisticated Bey-Berk gem (LOVE Bey-Berk!), she’ll always have a safe place to stash her jewels. Whether she’s jet-setting overseas or staying overnight with friends and family, this perfectly sized piece is ideal for travel of any kind. Plus it looks extra polished with a super-soft suede lining paired with a faux croc-skin, luxurious leather outer.

Rise and shine, Mom! What better way for me to make Mom’s day (well, morning), than with the Keurig K65 Special Edition Single-Cup Coffee Maker? It’ll provide the perfect cup for cozying up as she reads the paper on a crisp, cool morning or as a mid-morning brunch treat with her girls on the patio. Easy-to-use and quick cleanup are perks I know my mom will appreciate, plus she’ll love the coffee-house quality with every cup and the included 12-count K-Cup variety pack, to fit the occasion. The Keurig’s sleek chrome accents will enhance her newly remodeled kitchen, too. Coffee talk with Mom is just the way to celebrate Mother’s Day.
