A Serene Sunroom Refresh

Joy Johnson of FLUFF Interior Design creates a relaxing sunroom with texture and shine for a client in a lakeside home. Get the look for your own space — shop the Radiant Sunroom Retreat Styleboard.

What began as an under-used drop space for beach towels and toys became a beautiful and restful haven for the owner of this lakeside retreat. Our client wanted a quiet place to read, meditate, and to spend time with her friends, so she reclaimed this sunroom space for herself, and converted it into a feminine retreat.

We began with a calming color on the walls (Sherwin Williams Rainwashed).  Although the client wanted a pretty and peaceful space, practicality called for the furniture and finishes to stand up to the realities of living near the water. FLUFF Interior Design used all-weather wicker furniture with all-season indoor/outdoor cushions that will withstand sand and moisture. Toss pillows in coordinating floral patterns and stripes completed the look. The tonal area rug was woven of natural fibers, making it easy to clean.

To offset the natural elements, we added several brass and glass pieces: a round coffee table, a striking sunburst mirror, and a beautiful glass orb table lamp. These pieces provided an unexpected contrast to the fun painted and distressed TV cabinet and the cute sky blue side table.

FLUFF finished the room with some shine—glass floats in a pretty bowl, a ceramic garden stool for a spot to set a cool drink, and unexpected pops of happy red all around the room. Get the look with coastal-inspired elements. Shop Hayneedle’s Radiant Sunroom Retreat Styleboard for a complete assortment of inspired wicker furnishings and light and bright lakeside decor.
