Hello, 2013!
The successful passing of 2012 has left us all breathing a sigh of relief (no thanks to you, Mayan calendar) and finds us ready to revive our dreams and determination.
Here are some real-life examples from hayneedle.com staff as to how we plan on tackling our 2013 To-Do’s …
“I resolve to be more patient in 2013. What better way to achieve this than have a 7-month-old Brittany puppy around the house to motivate me? I’ve learned a good dog bed goes a long way in improving behavior because dogs need their space, too. I suggest anything designed by Fatboy. They’re comfortable and the Merimekko print works well with our mid-century furniture.”

“I have two resolutions to share! The first is to entertain guests at my home more often and the second is to hydrate! I think a few pretty pitchers will definitely help me accomplish both of my goals.”
- Cate, Graphic Designer
“Fitness! I’m dedicating myself to getting my kitteh in shape. I shall remove Fiona’s current favorite shoebox and replace it with this super-sweet cat gym. It may require 60 or 70 Pounce treats to lure her up on it, but I’m certain that after 28 days, she’ll be the Gabby Douglas of cats.”
“My own personal intention for 2013 is to cultivate more mindfulness. I appreciate little visual cues such as this set of Buddha hands arranged in a sort of namaskara mudra – hands together over the heart chakra in a gesture of salutation, respect, and adoration. Placed on my desk, it’s a gentle reminder to come back to the present moment.”

“One of my 2013 resolutions is to get my house organized before my baby is born. I want to get it to a point where everything has a place so there’s less clutter. I plan on buying bins, baskets, bookcases, file cabinets, and closet organizers to accomplish this. I can already imagine the clutter that’ll accumulate if I don’t get things organized now!”
- Stephanie, Customer Marketing Specialist
“My resolution is to lose my beer gut and be able to jog a mile without stopping. I plan on doing this by cutting out snacking and by actually getting on the treadmill that’s gathering dust in my basement.”
- Brad, Customer Marketing Manager
“This year I’ve resolved to begin a meditation practice. A Hugger Mugger cushion would make for a much more comfortable experience. An ever-present visual reminder, like this vibrant throw pillow, would keep me mindful of the balance, flexibility, strength, and serenity that a dedicated practice rewards.”
- Chelsea, Editor
“2013 marks the year I’ll become a craft beer connoisseur. That said, I’ll need to round up the appropriate vessels and accessories necessary to cultivate this newfound interest. Glasses, coasters, serving trays (for pairings), and perhaps even a kegerator, all seem in order. I see a few classes at beer school on the horizon as well.”
